AFP continues to participate in joint military exercises


The Armed Forces of the Philippines continues to participate in joint military exercises as they prepare for potential crisis, including humanitarian and disaster response during calamities.

The AFP made sure that the Balikatan exercises between the military and other allied nations will further strengthen the coordination of the military in its operations in humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

On Monday, the Philippine Navy started participating in the multi-lateral naval exercises, the SEACAT 2015, together with other seven countries.

Last October 1, the PHIBLEX 2015 Joint Military Exercises was launched between the US and the Philippines.

Most these exercises, except for the Joint Military Wargames Interoperability and Amphibious Assault, are also focused on Humanitarian Disaster Response, Civic Action.

According to Col. Noel Detoyato, chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office said that the PHIBLEX 2015 is being held in Cavite, Zambales and Tarlas; while the SEACAT 2015, participated by the Philippine Navy is being conducted at the seas of Singapore.

Meanwhile, the AFP condemns the killing of the tribal chieftain in the province of Agusan Del Norte yesterday by the New People’s Army.

Maj. Gen. Oscar Lactao, Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division denounces the attack done by the NPA to Datu Kadoy, 38 years old and leader of the natives in Sitio Mambahandi, Brgy. Camagong, town of Nasipit, Agusan Del Norte.

According to the report of Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez, official spokesman of the 4th infantry division, the rebel group ambushed the victim as he was on his way home after attending a meeting in Las Nieves, around two in the afternoon.

Uy said that the residents saw how the suspects shot the victim using an AK 47 rifle.

Based on reports, the rebel group failed to convince Datu Kadoy to join their group.

Uy added that aside from Datu Kadoy, local folks suffer the same fate if they refuse to join the NPA.  (with DZRH Bing Formento)
