The National Meat Inspection Service seized 785 kilograms of mishandled meat of pig and chicken in four markets in Kalentong, Mandaluyong City.

Director Rolando Marquez headed the operation of the enforcement team in the morning of January 31.

According to Marquez, the merchants violated the provision regarding hygienic handling of frozen meat in public markets.

The seized meat will be sent to the disposal committee in order to be buried or to a NMIS facility in Tondo, Manila.

The sellers of the mishandled meat were only just reprimanded and their products were confiscated, but Marquez warned that if they are caught by the authorities again, they will be fined.
