The death toll from Tropical Storm “Maring” has risen to five and six more remain missing, says the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Wednesday.
NDRRMC Spokesperson Mina Marasigan announced in a media briefing that two of the fatalities were reported in Taytay, one in Lucena, one in Pasay, and one more in Silang, Cavite.
Marasigan added that the search for six missing people in Laguna also continues.
According to Marasigan, about 159 areas which were flooded in the areas of National Capital Region (NCR) and Calabarzon have now subsided.
Reports from PAGASA determine that Tropical Storm “Maring” is now leaving the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) as of Wednesday noon.
“Maring” left parts of Calabarzon, NCR, and Central Luzon heavily flooded. Classes, government offices, and several domestics flights were also canceled on Tuesday.
