The 2016 Philippine Super Liga Invitational Volleyball tournament next month will include teams from Japan and Thailand in the final round.
PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said the two teams will make the coming season more exciting.
“We’re still choosing the teams. And they will be in the final round,” said Suzara.
Regular participants include Meralco, Petron Philips Gold, Cignal, RC Cola and Foton. Two new squads will make things interesting when the tournaments starts at the Arena in San Juan on Feb. 12.
F2 Logistics is joining with Army and will play under the Generika banner.
Suzara says he likes the idea of having more foreign players and teams in the country after the Philippines was recently awarded the hosting rights for several international tournaments.
He added that local officials will need to work their hardest to ensure that events held here will adhere to international standards.
The PSL will host the Asian Volleyball Confederation Asian Women’s Club Championship from Sep. 3 to 11 and the FIVB World Women’s Club Championship in October.
The PSL will also send a team to an invitational event hosted by the Thailand Super League from Mar. 23 to 29.
On the other hand, there will be a West Coast Road Tour in the US from Sep. 16 to 25.
