Two soldiers and a civilian employee of the Western Mindanao Command tested positive of illegal drugs after undergoing mandatory drug testing earlier today.
More than 373 personnel of WESTMINCOM were subjected to the said mandatory drug testing.
According to WESTMINCOM spokesman Major Felimon Tan, the drug test was conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Task Force Moses, at their headquarters in Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City, around 6am.
Major Tan said that the three personnel who tested positive of illegal drugs will have to undergo confirmatory test at the testing center, accredited by the Department of Health.
The mandatory drug test is in support of the MESMINCOM to the anti-illegal drugs campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte.
In line with this, Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Mayoralgo Dela Cruz said that he will remove from their posts the two soldiers and the civilian employee if proven that they are using illegal drugs.
“Drug addicts have no place in the WMC. Those found guilty will be discharged from the service without ifs and buts. Our organization must be clean from drug abuse so that our soldiers can carry out their tasks effectively.”
