Employers from the private sector are mandatory to give their employees their 13th month pay.
This was reminded to them by Department of Labor and Employment Sec. Rosalinda Baldoz in the agency’s latest issue of Labor Advisory.
Baldoz insisted that the 13th month benefit is the employer’s way of recognizing their employees as a force in production, competitiveness and profitability of their company.
The Dept. Secretary added that employers are obliged to give the 13th month pay based on the Presidential Decree no.851 and on the Implementing Rules and Regulations of it.
Under the said decree, the 13th month pay is equivalent to a month’s salary of the employee for the year he’s worked in the company, and it should be given before December 24.
