11 kilograms of methamphetamine, popularly known as Shabu, was seized from a discovered camp of the Maute Terror group in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.
During a press briefing of the Task Force Marawi this June 19, Lieutenant Colonel Jo-ar Herrera, spokesperson of the 1st Infantry Division, said that, other than the 11kg of Shabu estimated to have a market value of Php 100 million, high-caliber guns, fuel bombs, and drug paraphernalias were also recovered.
The 49th Infantry Task has already turned over the Shabu, believed to be used by the terrorists to remain awake and strong, to Joint Task Force Group Haribon.
According to Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez Jr., chief of the Western Mindanao Command, the confiscated 11kg Shabu is their largest illegal drug haul as of June 19.
President Rodrigo Duterte has repeatedly said that the Maute is funded by drug money, and the large storages of Shabu found in terrorist camps in Marawi allegedly proves the President’s statement.
