At least 100 Overseas Filipino Workers were barred from boarding their flight bound for Kuwait on Tuesday.
Red Marinas, port operations chief of the Bureau of Immigration, the said OFWs are now covered by the total deployment ban of OFWs in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, 200 OFWs who were in the country for a visit, were allowed to leave.
Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III explained that the said OFWs are excluded from the said ban.
Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific clarified that OFWs who would be repatriated from Kuwait, will not pay a single dime for their airfare.
During DZRH’s One on One, Charo Logarta Lagamon, corporate communications director of Cebu Pacific said that this is part of their commitment to President Rodrigo Duterte, to provide free airfares to distressed Filipinos in the said country.
Lagamon added that they will be sending a special flight to Kuwait, Airbus-A330 and will be able to accommodate 436 passengers. This is considered a special flight since Cebu Pacific don’t have a regular flight to and from Kuwait.
