A member of the Maute-ISIS group was killed during the seven-hour long clash between the terror group and the military in Brgy. Sumalindao, Sultan Domalondong, Lanao Del Sur.
This was confirmed by 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Romeo Brawner.
According to Brawner, they have yet to identify the number of casualties from the ISIS-inspired Maute group, but three soldiers sustained injuries during the said collision.
The encounter between the soldiers and the terror group started at 8:10am following the government troops’ operation against the said group the night before.
Brawner added that there are more than 20 members of the Maute faction headed by a certain Abu Dar.
The group of Abu Dar was a minute faction of the Maute-Isis after they separated due to the continuous attacks by the military during the Marawi siege.
Prior to this, two members of the Abu Dar group surrendered to the 55th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army b ased in Pagayawan, Lanao Del Sur, admitting that they were tired from hiding from the military.
